Funday Farm Adelaide Hills is a whole-property holiday house at Norton Summit, 20 minutes from the Adelaide CBD. It sleeps 14 across five bedrooms and three bathrooms on 28 acres of heritage-listed forest.

 

The whole place is yours - there are no other guests on site.

It's impossible to be bored here. There's a professional flight simulator in the downstairs living room and twin F1 racing simulators in the games shed, so you can race each other on the real circuits. The games shed is six by twelve metres and also holds a pool table, ping pong, air hockey, an arcade machine, retro consoles, a drumkit, a three-screen video wall and a 100-inch TV.

 

Outside there's a year-round heated saltwater pool, a full-size skate ramp, a bouncy castle, an alfresco gym, and walking tracks that run right around the property. The winery next door is a short stroll.

 

The house has two living rooms, a dining table that seats twelve, and the best BBQ setup in the country downstairs. Upstairs is for the view.

You'll almost certainly see koalas. Kangaroos come and go across the paddocks, ducks work the dam and wedge-tailed eagles turn overhead. We've installed artificial nesting hollows within view of the deck as part of a yellow-tailed black cockatoo conservation program, so there's a fair chance you'll watch a threatened species going about its business while you're eating breakfast. And you're welcome to meet our horses, Tiggy the rescue ex-racehorse and Uno the mini pony.

 

Dogs are welcome inside, with their own doggy door and 28 acres to explore.

Funday Farm suits families, groups of friends travelling together, and small teams who want somewhere quiet to think. Celebrations are welcome - we host plenty of birthdays and anniversaries. What we don't do is loud parties: this is a quiet rural property with friendly neighbours, and we'd like to keep it that way.
